Vegetable Squash Bugs

The following is rate B for bug. No matter if you grow squash in your garden or just enjoy eating fresh zucchini in the Summer, we should all be aware of the challenges faced in bringing it to the table.     Squash bugs don’t just put eggs on top of leaves. They vastly prefer the undersides, especially along veins.

    Always take a bowl or shallow container of soapy water when inspecting squash plants. (I use large, rectangular Rubbermaid leftover containers.) Place it under the leaf you want to inspect, because squash bugs have a habit of dropping to the ground when disturbed. Let them drop to their doom in the soapy water.

    Inspect every two or three days if possible, every week at least.
