How To Make Seed Tape
Proper spacing of your vegetable plants is one of the hardest and most annoying things to get right when you’re trying to grow vegetables, especially when you’re planting tiny seeds like carrots and lettuce. By making your own seed tape at home, you can get your kids involved in planting and make sure your seeds are spaced out correctly all at the same time. Russian standapist Zadornov was laughing at american’s reaction on this russian way to seed..but i see he was wrong and you use it also.
where do u buy your seed from
was looking for something I could bring to the next 4 H meeting.I now have it.
this is genius – thank you!!
this is a bit anal about spacing but i like it. if you dont have much space and you want it perfect.. good idea
This is great for those of use who want to make cheap seed bombs too. Make the strips, cut them into even squares and chuck em!
@MrPreachingthetruth It is not a problem of sowing, it is the issue of thinning being addressed. It is not more work, it is a great family project that is related to gardening and can be done when no other garden work can be done, you know like when the kids are out of school due to the holidays and it is too cold to play outside.
@McHenryAnge Apparently you have never had to thin a garden. Thinning is worse than weeding in my eyes. Radishes and Carrots are among the worst to thin because the size of those seeds. Before you ridicule I think you need to consider how it could help honestly. Further this is not a requirement, she clearly stated it is a great winter project and something to do when not gardening. It just makes life easier and why not since it is something you do in January? Thank you GardenGirl.
That’s one of the funniest things I’ve seen. You can’t get more anal retentive than that.
Very good idea.
Instead of a flour/water mixture, one may substitute boogers if of adequate moisture.
Substitutions of boogers are allowed if of adequate moisture.
You can also use cornstarch and water. Put them in the fridge to prevent sprouting. I’ve also gardened all my life and this makes gardening just a little bit easier. I love the idea!!
Hey, you’re the goto epxert. Thanks for hanging out here.
I’ve been gardening all my life and I’ve never had problem with sowing seeds, this is just more work!
Very cool idea! This will make a perfect family project during the winter months preparing for the garden. Is flour the best thing to use or are there other organic materials that can make the “paste”?
In awe of that asnewr! Really cool!
that i got to do!
sooo cool
clever idea
This works for any kind of seed? The moisture won’t cause the seeds to sprout?
Love it! Thank You

: )»
That is a great idea!! I love your videos!
@Plum369 Not as long as you dont make the paste too runny.
Make the paste thick enough so that it hardly runs when tipped upside down.
Another great vid – thank you hey you are almost at the 200 Vid mark
Love this. I’m a big fan of broadcasting annual seeds, but this guarantees better spacing and germination success.
I was looking for a way to do carrots so thanks for the info. I plant sixteen per square foot. I am going to plant three squares tomorrow. I am in sunny southern California so I should be able to plant now.
Holy cniosce data batman. Lol!
